Our client is one of the leading integrated energy companies in the global market. They are growing gas portfolio with new exploration and a major multi-billion dollar LNG project underway in Queensland. Due to an extremely high priority exploration initiative in Queensland, they are now seeking a qualified Assistant Accountant to join their high profile and expanding team in Brisbane CBD.
This is a newly created opportunity which requires an ambitious individual who wishes to develop their career within the gas sector, either locally or internationally. Assistant Accountant will take a responsibility for assisting the project finance fundamentals for the latest Queensland-based projects.
Your responsibilities will support a broad range of project accounting and operational accounting issues, including variance analysis, auditing and liaising with the joint venture partners. You will assist to produce monthly reports for the ventures, monitor and analyze costs as well as carrying out internal reviews in order to streamline and make processes more efficient.
Reporting to the Project Accountant, you will be responsible for financial accounting across the upstream assets of this huge market-leading Gas organization:
• Financial Accounting
• Management Accounting
• Asset Accounting
• Taxation
• Auditing
• Analysis of financial performance
• Monitoring expenditure
Working with the Project Accountant to provide financial date and disclose information;
• Preparation of Joint Venture accounts
• Monitoring and auditing actual costs against budget and investigating variances
• Coordinating annual audit process
• Analysis of Joint Venture results to drive business performance
• Involvement in the annual budgeting process
• Joint Venture reporting
• Foreign currency translations
The Requirements
• Min 2years accounting/finance experience in commercial sector is highly desirable however strong financial/management accounting experience in public sector can be considered
• A strong understanding of accounting principles and standards
• Proven communication skill with highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
• Computer literate with experience in financial accounting and project systems
• Research and problem solving skills are a must
• Report writing skills are essential
